Most apps are open source or freeware licensed Most apps are pretty compact and optimized for speed and size It will also include apps from portapps.io/apps or anywhere, just put them in the right folder (won't update those though) Handy Start menu included, with notifiers for updates Same for backup and copy, can be done as with any other file or folder This includes data folders like your Firefox profile f.ex.
Portable as in: just copy the folder to wherever you want to use it
Selfcontained installs, need disk space only, nothing written to registry or elsewhere I've never used Chocolatey but have used between PCs and laptops for years so pardon me if some of these points applies for both.
